Let's take a look at some other properties in the same area of the Riu Yucatan
| The RIU Playacar |
| Also on the beach, within walking distance and just a bit north of the Riu Yucatan is the Riu Playacar. Here is a view of the main entrance from the road. |
The Riu Playacar lobby is bright, airy and very attactive.

The Riu Tequila
Here is the entrance to the Riu Tequila. The Tequila is across the street from the Riu Yucatan and does not have direct beach access. If you stay at Riu Tequila, you need to go to the Riu Yucatan to access the ocean. Of course you have exchange privileges and can eat and drink while you are there as well. The exchange privileges do not include the specialty restaurants.
The lobby is quite attractive.
The Riu Tequila has a disco. La Pinata is available for all Riu guests. Alas, we did not bring any proper disco attire with us, so we did not check it out. You can though and let us know!

| Here is the Riu Tequila pool area. Check out the basket ball nets. They did not have these at the Riu Yucatan. All in all the pool area at the Tequila was quite nice and well laid out. |
The Riu Palace
The Riu Palace is the big brother to the other Riu properties in the area. A bit more formal and palatcial - hence the name palace. It has its own very fine beach area, large pools and more restaurants & fine dining than the others. From the Palace you have privileges at all the other Rius, but from the others you do not have privileges at the Palace. Let's take a look inside.
Here we are in the lobby - rich dark woods and exquisite tiles - more of a formal spanish colonial look than the other properties.
Directly behind the main building is this great area for evening cocktails and music.
| The courtyard area of the hotel is very large with well manicured lawns and beautiful pools. A perfect place for a wedding! |
The Riu Palace has this beautiful winding pool area.

Every pool must have a bar close by and this one is very nice - wide open spaces and a bit of shade.
| Here's a great view of the palace grounds. We need to leave now before we get kicked out - we don't have exchange privileges here - but we did have a nice visit. |
