Honeymoon in Maui & Kauai, Hawaii in August, 2005.
Wedding in Neenah, WI

We had a great time. We both agreed that we liked Maui better than Kauai . On Maui we did a sunset dinner cruise, went to the aquarium, took a drive around East Maui , we did not do the road to Hana. We wanted to do the sunrise bike tour but could not fit it in. So we drove to the summit, it was a clear morning and the views were excellent. The other thing that we really wanted to do was the luau done by the Old Lihana ( I think that is what it was called) it is suppose to be the best luau on the island. I think that it is because there is a two month list that is booked full every night that they do the luau, also we were told that there is about 30 to 40 people waiting to see if anyone does not show, so they can get in. So if you know of anyone that wants to see that luau inform them that they want to get it booked well in advance. We settled for the luau that was at the Maui Prince Hotel, the food was great and the drinks were just as good. We both liked the luau even though it was not the one that we wanted to see and it was right down from the room ( no driving ). One thing that kinda stunk was we did not have enough time to relax on the beach.  We did relax but it was not at the beach. That's ok . On Kauai we saw the top ten sights to see.  The swinging bridge, spouting horn, a couple of water falls, and the canyon. We also took a helicopter ride with the Blue Hawiian that had to be one of the best things that we did. The views were unreal. The only bad thing is that Hawaii is having very dry weather, the one canyon that we flew into was one of the wettest spots on earth and all the waterfalls were dried up . We saw a few waterfalls, but everything else you got to see on the flight made up for the lack of waterfalls. The pilot was really cool too. On the ride over to the helo pad we learned that the pilot, Mike, was from  Wisconsin . We talked with him a lot because we were the last flight of the day. He told us of some local great places to go, bars, restaurants etc. We met up with him on the last full day that we were there. We went out to diner and then went back to this local bar, which was a lot like our local sports bar. They were having karaoke Mike, Shanda, Michelle, and I all had to sing a song. He was an excellent pilot, and informed us about everything on the island. Both of the resorts were very good. I liked the Sheraton, not really sure why, it may have been the free Mai Tai hour. Everything went very good, after we got there. One other thing that I thought was crazy was the police down there put up road blocks and check everyone on the road to see if they were drinking and to be sure that the car is not stolen. Just some info for others who travel there, to be careful if you go out and are drinking. Anyways, Thank you for all your help on the way down and just wanted to say Thank You again for all your help with planing our honeymoon . I kinda hope that we can get away this winter again but I have a bad feeling that we will be staying home to pay off some of the wonderful bills that go along with getting married

Thanks, Jim & Michelle
